Plasma depolymerization of natural-product-derived maclomolecules

High-value-added health foods such as “supplements” have been obtained by lowering the molecular weight (depolymerization) of macromolecules derived from natural products. However, most of the conventional depolymerization processes are based on thermochemical reaction processes that consume enormous energy and time. Therefore, supplements are generally expensive. To solve this problem, we have explored possibility of a depolymerization process using gas-liquid interface plasma.
